Amazon deposits and verifies your CC!

A friend of mine created a seller's account at her house to sell a few books. Used her checking atm card to register. Next day, we found that amazon deposited $1 into her account.

I've created many amazon accounts following amazon ghost closely and all got deleted. I use VCCs purchased from members of this forum. They all pass the initial registration process, but I guess it didn't pass their $1 deposit process.

Anyone have an idea of what good cards to use specifically for amazon?

Vanilla Visa cards work good for Amazon accounts

With your vinila Visa, do you have access to online records that show the $1.00 deposit thet athe OP ws refering to.

I am cerious to hear the timline of that check and if it occurs from time to time or is a 1 time thing ETC.

Thanks

This does not make sense to me.

I have seen Amazon place a $1 charge on CC's for verification, then the $1 gets credited back to the account. This is normal.

But I do not see how Amazon (or anyone else for that matter) could DEPOSIT money to a credit card. Yes, there are some prepaid cards that come with a checking account attached, but they use a routing number and an account number for deposits, just like a bank does.

I must be misunderstanding something here.

BTW: Amazon charges CC's on file for $1 from time to time, to make sure the cards are still valid. Usually, this happens just before they are going to make a deposit. Since VCC's expire after 24 hours, you would need to add a new VCC to the accounts to make this work. That is why I like gift cards.

Jeff

You are correct. Nobody can deposit money onto a credit or gift card. Amazon can only authorize the card for $1 to make sure it is valid. Then after 48-72hrs the authorization will go away. The only way they could put money on the card is if they have charged the card and received the money into their account. Then they can only refund the amount they received the card. Pretty sure you understand all of this already. Just laying it out for some people who are new to this.

I guess we should NEVER use VCC b/c of Amazon's random $1 verification on those cards (and they exp within 24 hrs).

Vanilla Visa is the only way to go as stated by Cardfelon. I think I found my solution as to why my amazon ninja accounts have been busted in 24-48 hrs :)

I am thinking the same lines brownsauce215.
