Virtual machine

I created a virtual machine on my computer but it won't log online because it's says modem isn't installed. How to I use my computers modem with the virtual machine?

I figure other folx will chime in - I have no experience with VmWare and modem use though I need to learn about it soon.

What software did you use for your VM?

I never had this issue with VMware. It should recognize the modem without any issues. What version of windows is installed?

LiveNdieinLA 11-25-2011 08:44 PM

windows 7. should i be using something else? also it is very slow if i were to switch to windows 98 or something around there would it work faster?

LiveNdieinLA 11-25-2011 11:56 PM

Did you install the VMware Tools in the guest OS?

LiveNdieinLA 11-26-2011 04:44 AM

MtnDew 11-27-2011 11:53 PM

:) just go to the virtual account and update vmware tools and you should be fine...

edit: your post it says your computers modem ???? not sure but update vmware tools and then make sure your adapter settings are right. If that doesnt work come back and tell me how your connecting to the internet and ill do my best from there.

I'm in the process of setting this up but I just notice that you said that vmware doesn't like usb dial up? Computer does not have dial up or room for it whats the solution?

You can install your modem easily, I don't see the problem. I had no issues with Windows 7 and I believe I used XP as well without issue.
