Any info on what amazon might do re our identity
 

Here is a concern I have regarding this process that is really freaking me out: will Amazon be performing a business entity search online? When the 1099 form came, I was relieved since it did not ask any personal information and went ahead and put in my business info.

However, I was browsing online today and found that at any state's secretary of state site, you can perform a business entity search for LLC filings and the like, and BOOM, they could link us that way.

I am really freaking out now, since I am in the process of potentially buying a large group of inventory that I planned on selling via FBA, and am SCARED TO DEATH of this happening. Please advise!

I highly doubt they will be researching each business that is provided to them. But if that were the case you would want to set your business up with a registered agent as the listed contact. Certain states reveal more info than others. But if you want the maximum amount of privacy I would set a corporation in Wyoming. Wyoming is even more strict about privacy than Nevada is.

If they Do Search, all they are going to Find out is if the Corporation is active or not, and some VERY Basic information, like what type of Corporation it is (LLC, S Corp, ect,ect) so do not worry

Actually, with my state and a few others that I checked out, they actually have a PDF of the original documents used to setup the corporation, so all this information is right there if they just perform a search by company name on the site. However, the sites aren't indexed by Google or anything, but all it takes are like 2 clicks and they can find that stuff. Also, if it shows up on there, there is a good chance it will be indexed by sites like Manta.com, since they pull their data from business filings. Hopefully, you two are right, but it depends how much Amazon cares to snoop.
