Question about VMware & VPN

I read the above thread.

but is a VPN different from using something like VMWare? Just want to make sure because that is what I plan on using...

They're nothing alike. VPN is a remote server that you connect to. Once connected all of your internet traffic go through the remote server, making it seem as if your physical location is at where the server is since it chances your IP address. VMWare is a virtualization software that runs another secluded operating system on top of your current one.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. Now I know why AZ would think this is a shady practice
