Mac address on smart phone

will resetting my phone to factory settings change the mac address if i want to use it for tethering?

provider - tmobile
phone - galaxy s3

i haven't activated my tethering option yet with tmobile. i have used the phone before to access my original business amazon acct (not sure if i accessed it using wifi or the 4G) the business acct is still good but I want to make a back up since it takes about 3-4 months of good rep to gain featured merchant status.

i noticed on the phone that the IP address for the 4G and the mac address stays the same whether i restart the phone or put it on airplane mode and back (tethering option is not functional yet). thinking of using the phone tethering option when functioning as a solely used by the stealth acct.

so again, will resetting to factory settings change the mac address of the phone?

Not sure on this one but wait for others to chime in.

Why would restoring to factory settings change the mac? Factory settings is just settings you are not changing any hardware. Think of doing this on a computer, the mac would not change

MAC addresses are usually hardcoded. Some devices may allow you to spoof it using rooted/jailbroken tools but regardless, I still suggest people to stay far far away from operating stealth on their phones.

so there's no point in using the smart phone as a tethering agent regardless of whether i use a brand new laptop since i already used the phone once to log in into another account?

oh......i wasn't gonna operate from the phone itself. i was gonna use it to tether using a brand new laptop. problem is, i know i used the phone once to log into my real account.
