Using Paypal as a Bank for Amazon

Apologies if this has been posted already, this relates to both Amazon and Paypal.

Been setting up some Stealth accounts recently.

When signing up I notice that Paypal give you the option to load your Paypal account by Bank Transfer, and gives you your own account number and sort code where you an transfer funds to from a UK bank account.

Has anyone tried setting up an Amazon account with Paypal bank details? :)

is it for UK only?

sax4 12-11-2012 02:34 PM

Not sure, I created the account yesterday.

Az only allows you to use a bank account sax4 - i think Az UK allows the usage of UK bank account so it has nothing to do with pp.

Apologies if I did not make myself clear rsot, when creating a Paypal account it now tells you that you can add funds to the account using a bank account, but not an ATTATCHED bank account, ie, you can transfer money to the account from a bank as long as the name matches(or not as the case could well be)

So in the case of Amazon create a Paypal account, Paypal then give you a sort code and account number, and you add that to Amazon.

Created some other accounts will post screenshot....

huh, paypal gives you your own bank account number??

Artann 12-14-2012 05:01 PM

how would you transfer it? did paypal give you a routing # etc for your paypal? Or you are thinking you will get one with their so called debit card?

No dude, as I said in my first post you get a sort code and account number, I think Sort Code is UK equivalent of Routing Number in America?

Nice find Sax! it might work I understand what you are trying to do .... only way to know is to do a few small transactions to test it out. Seems like a free bank account but it is PayPal good luck!

Speeder33 12-15-2012 01:57 AM

this could be the best news regarding amazon ive ever heard....

sax4 12-15-2012 03:48 AM

Will give it a go :)

Hmm I DONT think pp is GIVING you a bank account sax4.

What you are doing is sending money to PP's OWN bank account...then they distribute it to YOUR pp account...kind of like a holding company.

I really doubt you get your own bank account with pp since 1) It is NOT a bank 2) You would need HEAVY ID verification 3) PP sux.

Artann 12-15-2012 10:20 AM

Has anyone seen something like that on US pp accounts?

sax4 12-15-2012 10:22 AM

You are right rsot, I looked at the details of the accounts I opened and the account numbers are the same on each

So in the case of Amazon that would not work, as you cannot enter a reference number too. Nice idea while it lasted.

Still kind of useful if they will accept the transfer from any name,

Speeder33 12-15-2012 10:49 AM

thats a shame....really was a good idea

oge 12-15-2012 11:56 AM

Good catch rsot I had some hope!
