agray34 | 02-18-2014 05:19 PM | Counterfeit or Banned items notice I received a performance notification from Amazon that said someone reported that I am selling counterfeit or unauthorized items, yada yada, it looked like a basic form letter. They encouraged me to review customer communication, feedback etc...
I do not sell counterfeit products or any item that could be considered counterfeit. I also have 100% feedback and no correspondence with customers accusing me of this and no A-Z claims against me on this account.
Obviously, someone emailed Amazon direct and reported me about this. I think I know who it was and it is a competitor who had a monopoly on a specific item that I now sell.
Any suggestions on how to handle this? I wrote a very good response to Amazon but I am wondering if anyone else has had experience or suggestions on how to deal with this.
Thanks |
Gamefreak | 02-18-2014 05:23 PM | Re: Counterfeit or Banned items notice you looked at your returns? Somethings its in there, any variants to a product and ppl automatically assume its f@ke. Customers a retarded sometimes.
your best bet without any idea of where to look if its not in returns is to just move on but if you get another soon then you need to start searching around |
agray34 | 02-18-2014 05:31 PM | Re: Counterfeit or Banned items notice I went through all of my returns (very few) and not a single time has anyone ever contacted me about received a counterfeit item, etc... All my return requests have been for defective or damaged during shipment...
Do you think that it is possible someone emailed amazon direct? Amazon did not take any funds from me, I was not sure if they credited a buyer and than maybe just sent me the warning? Or is this warning automatically sent based upon metrics... |
Gamefreak | 02-18-2014 08:04 PM | Re: Counterfeit or Banned items notice email or call unless the manufacturer bought from you and filed complaint but then that would get the listing itself removed which i gather wasn't the case?
Keep an eye out for future complaints and proceed from there. Not much you can do without knowing any more information. |
MICKY H | 02-19-2014 11:18 AM | Re: Counterfeit or Banned items notice Basically I would say its a competitor who has contacted amazon and reported you in the hope that your account will be suspended. This is common practice amongst sellers, but nobody on this forum will admit to it. Its a tough world out there. Amazon will not suspend on the information given by a customer, but will flag your account. |
agray34 | 02-19-2014 12:14 PM | Re: Counterfeit or Banned items notice Ya I know it is a competitor.
What I did was have 5 different relatives all across the US purchase from him and I will have them report him to Amazon.
I can play the game right back to them...These idiots need to realize this. |
MICKY H | 02-19-2014 02:22 PM | Re: Counterfeit or Banned items notice Also what you should do, as you have identified the buyer, report him to amazon saying this company is a competitor and trying to destroy my business. Have they left feedback yet? |

Being vindictive doesn't put more money in your pocket; in the end that's what we're all here for. Try to figure out how to prevent this in the future. Also you can contest this with Amazon if you have original receipts or a letter from the manufacturer that you are a distributor, etc. Even then, still no guarantees. |
secret storm | 02-19-2014 10:33 PM | Re: Counterfeit or Banned items notice Im sorry to hear this happened to you OP I hope you come out ok and get back at the person giving you grief. |
eternity4u | 02-20-2014 09:47 AM | Re: Counterfeit or Banned items notice Well. Today I got the same Policy Warning and my selling privileges have been removed.
I have not sold anything counterfeits since they are all repaired items with all the right authentic details.
AZ wants my invoices. Well, I have to be creative. But, it is so hard nowadays being on AZ and EB.
But if you know your way, nothing effects you, just the inconvenience of making a new account. |
Kelly441 | 02-23-2014 01:48 PM | Re: Counterfeit or Banned items notice I have had this warning on two accounts and was not selling phakes. Within a month and a half the accounts were suspended. Most likely competitors taking you down. |
zoneout | 02-23-2014 09:58 PM | Re: Counterfeit or Banned items notice If you use fba maybe they will leave you alone. |
Re: Counterfeit or Banned items notice its definitely a competitor if you dont have any message from any buyer complaining or even an a to z then its more likely a competitor.
Happened to one of my accounts in early Jan.got phake item notice for an item that was still in transit and not even delivered.showed all invoices in appeal but didnt work .125k got stuck.
make sure you report the buyer now like MICKY mentioned.if you need to use relatives friends anything do it now before you lose the account |
jeffweico | 02-24-2014 12:05 AM | Re: Counterfeit or Banned items notice This is exactly why we need stealth. Just because your items are authentic does not mean your competitors will let you keep your accounts.
Unfortunately, in some categories, you will be accused of selling counterfeit items even if your stock is 100% legitimate. |

Think about that as well. |

Think about that as well. | My assumption I believe is accurate. I added a new item to my OWN listing and within 1 hour the only other seller of this item purchased it from me. Then I receive this notice from Amazon.
The probability that I listed this item, shipped it to the same area that the other seller of this item ships from is 1/100000000 |
Re: Counterfeit or Banned items notice Very difficult to beat this kind of claim - make new amazon ghost accounts and spread sales |

Is it possible that you pissed him off by copying the listing or the product since it sounds like you yourselves purchased it from this seller :mod: |

On many listings with multiple sellers it indicates that the item ships from XYZ.
I pissed him off because he has been the only seller of this item, which I also sell and now he has competition |
Re: Counterfeit or Banned items notice That's aggressive competition but have to give him some props for cornering his market share |

It honestly is usually Chinese competitors who do not understand that in the US it is a free market. I once had one call me, I asked how he got my phone number and he called UPS and gave them the label info, they then gave him my contact number. He could not understand why I was also allowed to sell a product on Amazon, for some reason he thought that he could have a monopoly on the product... |
GreenBean | 03-06-2014 04:59 PM | Re: Counterfeit or Banned items notice @agray34
Dont like the idea of UPS giving out personal info. Did you do any follow-up there.
