| Etycoon | 03-01-2014 10:28 AM | Amazon Uk might be over. I created an Amazon account as I usually do. However the layout now has completely changed.
You can no longer register as a business without a company registration number or a sole trader without a UTR.
I then registered as a individual seller (now called private seller) I thought all was okay, but now Amazon ask for ID and you have to register a deposit account straight away.
Also there is big yellow header at the top of the page saying my "information is still being validated and amazon will contact me if they need further information"
This is bad news for stealth accounts. |

There will be a work around to solve this issue. |
| Etycoon | 03-01-2014 11:08 AM | Re: Amazon Uk might be over. So have you encountered this problem..? |
| roberto | 03-01-2014 11:09 AM | Re: Amazon Uk might be over. Its difficult if they ask for utility bill and passport right at start
:( |
| Etycoon | 03-01-2014 11:14 AM | Re: Amazon Uk might be over. We have to put our minds together and solve this. |
| eternity4u | 03-01-2014 11:32 AM | Re: Amazon Uk might be over. I opened one today. But with real details. Right now they are validated the account.
The problem is, the business seller UTR number.
Amazon are looking for businesses. |
| Etycoon | 03-01-2014 12:01 PM | Re: Amazon Uk might be over. Hi
What selling plan did you choose Individual or professional..?
If you choose professional, what type of seller did you say you was i.e. private or sole trader etc.
And lastly did you have to provided any further documentation to verify yourself..? |
Re: Amazon Uk might be over. I had 1 amazon uk.opened another one 2 weeks ago.not sure if they had the rule then or not but it never asked me for any of the utr or business info or validation.is it because my card info was not UK or EU based or is this rule new |
Re: Amazon Uk might be over. I can see getting over the utility bill but the passport is only ID that can be provided? |
| roberto | 03-01-2014 01:33 PM | Re: Amazon Uk might be over. i sent a drivers license. then they replied back about 17 hours later and asked for passport |
| aleen | 03-01-2014 06:11 PM | Re: Amazon Uk might be over. It's gonna become very difficult then. Every seller can't get UTR becAuse it applies on them sellers who have turn over more than 70k. Let's wait and see what happens. Also need to concentrate more on running accounts unless experts find a way around. |
Re: Amazon Uk might be over. Yes this is the case it's game over now for stealth. |
Re: Amazon Uk might be over. Stealth takes its hits but will continue to push through - clever people will come up with different approaches |
| MICKY H | 03-01-2014 09:05 PM | Re: Amazon Uk might be over. Have you tried setting up an account in France,Germany,Spain or Italy. Maybe these setting are not in place these. Then you sell on the UK as normal. Also if you are an oversea's seller are amazon still asking for these details, or is it just a UK seller??? |
| roberto | 03-01-2014 10:19 PM | Re: Amazon Uk might be over. i tried different amazon site like spain. didnt work.
asks id for ALL sellers who make account on any european amazon site, including USA sellers, Canadian e.t.c |

If you want to sell under the professional selling plan it looks like you will have to use real details and select the private seller setting to avoid amazon asking for UTR, HMRC or company registration. By using real details Amazon should be able to verify you automatically without asking for further information. Adversely you could use stealth info and provide docs and hope for the best.
After some further research (From a reliable source) I gather that if you create an account under the individual selling plan you can avoid all of this hassle. However you can only sell 30 items per a month and you will have a velocity limit of £1500. I cant tell if this includes all 5 European platforms or not.
Please can everyone respect the Amazon platform as your actions could affect everyone else trying to sell on the platform. |
| roberto | 03-01-2014 11:02 PM | Re: Amazon Uk might be over. wait, are you saying if you create pro account they dont ask for id? |
| aleen | 03-02-2014 03:51 PM | Re: Amazon Uk might be over. My main selling platform is amazon but now I'm thinking to sell more on ebay which is more safe and reliable option at the moment.
Now need to find the products which I can sell there. :( |
| GreenBean | 03-02-2014 05:23 PM | Re: Amazon Uk might be over. @aleen
Be careful thinking ebay is safer. You will need to start from the beginning there, my Friend.
We will work out how to deal with amazon
:peace: |

Every single UK taxpayer has a UTR if they have ever had to do self-assessment (randomly selected or voluntary). |
Re: Amazon Uk might be over. Aleen, amazon was also my main selling platform, need to go with the flow.. |
