Amazon found linking account but still don't know the reason

Today I got an email from Amazon saying one of my stealth is linked to another one which is under review. I have been thinking for the whole day but couldn't figure out how Amazon found out?

I mean that I used completely different details and IP addresses checked out one by one. No repeated IPs. I do use different zip codes in the same city, however, my city has large population.

The only thing I am suspecting is that I didn't take care of 'browser fingerprints'. I didn't use VMare and didn't change MAC address etc. because people said AZ can not see it.

Can anyone here help figure out why? Just very curious...and don't want to repeat the same mistake again!

Are you using the same browser for each account you have?

Re: Amazon found linking account but still don't know the reason

If you used the SAME computer and the SAME browser, then YES your browsers fingerprint is IDENTICAL, also what about LSO cookies?,

Re: Amazon found linking account but still don't know the reason

100% amazon do not track your MAC address. So you can rule that out.

If you are using the same computer are you making sure that you change user profiles? If you are then you will be fine with this. You CAN use the same computer as long as you take precautions, ie changing user accounts.

The most likely thing to me is you are selling the same products or your ip is not truly a dynamic ip and only the last few numbers are changing. More info is needed to give a better answer.

Read over replies here as well, OP.

You must understand ( as much as possible) how amazon acts.

Damn, I used the same computer and same browser. I always use firefox. Thanks for figuring that out for me.
What is LSO cookies?

GreenBean 04-20-2014 10:28 PM

Re: Amazon found linking account but still don't know the reason

LSO = Local Shared Object

Local shared object - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In terms of 'tracking' or 'tracing', they are potentially fatal to ID similar accounts.

TRUE! Only the last two digits of my ips are changing. I use a Tmobile usb dongle. So it looks that would not be a good choice now. I am going to change it.
Thank you!!

Thank you!!

I recommend using Virgin Mobile dongle, complete new IP everytime. It might be a little slower than tmobile one but that could be due to area coverage.

There is no problem using the same browser as long as you use a completely different user on the computer. If you did that then this is not the problem. Same for cookies.

Interesting. I was under the impression that Amazon uses browser fingerprinting. For example the same PC on Windows 7 with two separate User Profiles both using IE 11 could be linked?

Is this not the case now, or am I mis-understanding?

You can, You just need to have some different settings, like different screen Resolutions, Fonts, Screene Savers, Browser Plugins, Different Browser add ons like toolbars, I Have written MANY posts about this, Use the search bar above to find them, along with MANY useful Links to websites on the subject

Create different user on your PC and use a different browser like 'opera". Also the IP needs to be different etc

To make a very long story short. Amazon do not use browser finger printing to the extent most people think they do. The main reason being that it would be expensive and completely useless. They do adopt a lot of security measures but anyone familiar with these forums should be fine getting around them.

They DO use Browser Fingerprinting, provided to them by a company called Palantir Technologies:

This was reported in an article written in the Wall Street Journal nearly 2 Years ago, at the time I Posted links here on this site to that article.

If you think your account is getting linked due to mobile 3g dongles you have no idea. You will not be linked this way, look at what you are really doing wrong.

Ok, so if this was true every single person using a new ipad would be classed as the same user and suspended. Amazon probably do use some kind if browser finger printing to stop fraudulent purchases but they will 100% not yet be using it to link sellers.

Not to mention you seem confused with what palantir actually do. They are not an 8 billion dollar company specialising in browser fingerprinting. They are a data mining company,

I'm only talking about the virgin dongle. Nothing else.

Amazon will also see patterns of activity i.e. if you are selling the same stuff
