Post-Amazon Ghost Guide Questions

Hi All,

I decided to take the dive and get the Amazon Ghost Guide. I read the entire guide twice last night. It was an interesting read to say the least.

Some background, me and a buddy of mine decided about 10 months ago to open an LLC and start selling some stuff on Amazon. We were mainly shopping B&M and Online retailers Clearances. We opened the AZ account around Feb-Mar of '14. We actually started to sell in Nov. Once we saw that we started to move an Item here or there that we should start getting more stuff. So we started to post a few more things and a few things would sell. Then all of the sudden we got a email that the account was under suspension for 'Counterfeit" Items. In the email it asked for proof of invoice's. So we composed an email and sent off all of the invoices and receipts and about 2 hours later we got a "generic" response saying we decided that we are Not reinstating your account and you funds are on a 90 day hold. So we got pissed, but figured it is what it is. So thats what got me thinking about this book.

I do have some questions on how to set up this new stealth account.

1. I had a friend of mine mention to me that he has had an account closed down and that he opened a new one using AWS (Amazon Web Service) is that something that is viable ? I currently have one myself out of VA but I live a few states away would that be an Issue ? Would having a changing IP be better or have just a Dedicated IP ? Would that have an effect on issues with address ?

2. Now I dont know how this happened but I guess i got lucky When we set up our Orig account with was not a Pro Seller account I left out the LLC's TIN. Is the LLC still usable ? The name is generic enough as to where I can manipulate the name a little as well. Is something like that viable ? Do I need a DBA ?

3. In regards to my old "closed" account it was under the company name and using my address. Can I use my partners name & address? His info was NOT on the seller account, but he does have his own personal account that he just uses for buying.

4. Now I used our LLC's bank account info on AZ from day one. What can I do about that ? Will an account number change help ? or do I need a whole new account ?

5. Pro account vs Individual ?

How did you not have a tax number on Amazon? Most likely not possible. If that is the case, file for a new company EIN.

Use an address that has never been used on Amazon before.

Individual account allows very few transactions per month.

I like a Dedicated IP, but as long as you are not overlapping IPs from other accounts you are OK.

Miss anything?

New bank account number. Could be a checking or savings with checking best.

I never put it in, It says the company name and under where is says Tax ID it says None.
Can the address be of someone who doesn't have a seller account but just a regular account ?

Whats the best way for a new Bank account number ?

No address used before.

Easiest way of getting a new bank account number is opening a new bank account.

Very odd tax number situation. Amazon is extra funny about that somewhat demanding it at 50 transactions. If it was never used before, you are good to go I guess. Not sure how to confirm that on amazon. Very odd.

That is very odd. Amazon is very fickle about tax info. Even on personal accounts.

sounds like you are about ready.
try a UPS mailbox for address so that you can get returns etc...

Good idea for UPS mailbox.

IF you aren't selling a ton OP, go for individual.

Id it worth it to go into the same bank and ask for a new account number ? or would a VBA from the Market be viable ?

Open up another account. No big deal. Same bank, new bank, etc...

You can add a savings account to your existing account as well.

One thing that rsot mentioned is IF you are selling only a few things a month, personal account would be a good option and then upgrade and add your EIN only when needed. That way if you run into troubles again, you wont burn it on Amazon.
