Change legal name
 

Guys,

I have managed to open an account as a business/company account . I would like to know if I can change it to a personal account ? Will add new card with the personal name and bank account with the personal name .

The seller is a non - US company/person.

The reason why I would like to keep the acc is it has good feedback and nice sales.

Or should I just close this account and open a new one as a person ?

Would like to see your opinions .

I have never done this, so I cannot be 100% certain, but I don't think it is likely that this can be done. MAYBE it can be done if the personal name you used to register the account is the same as the name you want to use - you could call Amazon and tell them you would rather operate as an individual instead of a business for some reason. I'm not sure if that would work.

If the name is completely different, I don't see Amazon allowing that. That would be like selling or transferring an account, which neither eBay nor Amazon like very much. Their view would be that the current account belongs to the business, so the new person who wants an account should just open his own.

Is there a reason it cannot continue to be operated as a business account?

thanks for replying

the thing is I intend to close the company soon.

actually after I log into my account at "legal name entity" I can push the "edit" button and it goes to the tax id information, but didn't get it through yet to find out if there could be any problems.

Normally they shouldn't allow you to edit that information is it's not allowed ,right ?

Well, I have never done this, but they WOULD allow you to change the company name and tax-ID. At least in the beginning, because for the tax-ID to be valid, the name must match EXACTLY with the EIN. Sometimes people make mistakes and have to change the name slightly, or maybe they transposed a digit on the EIN. So I know that those CAN be changed. But if you change the business name they will probably have to re-verify the tax-ID matches the business name, if it had been previously verified.

But you were asking if they will allow a business account to be changed to a personal account and I very much doubt it.

Maybe someone else will chime in who has had some experience with this particular issue...

you can change the TAX info on the account if thats what you would like to do but u won't be able to downgrade from business to personal account if you created a business account to begin with.

Just change the tax info under settings and you should be set... Now the ? at that point is does it give you the option to use SSN instead of EIN it being a business account.

if you use a company based outside US you don't need EIN/SSN

What do they ask then for EIN if the company is located abroad ?
