how to manage phone numbers

I got some troubles regarding phone numbers.
1. I was using Sonetel phone numbers to register amazon stealths, but my accounts shut down a lot recently. I'm not sure if it is a safe way. Also I'm trying google voice now.
2. If a physical phone is the most safe way, how to manage them? I don't like to have 5 or 10 phones in my home.
Any suggestions?

eBay/PayPal/Amazon knows if you're using a VOIP #, whether that makes your accounts less stable or not is up for debate. A good majority of them are blacklisted, so you run the risk of getting an account suspended.

Play it safe and get a phone # from a major cellular provider. Depending on how many accounts you need, 5-10 burner phones lying around isn't that worst thing ;)

If you have 5 sim cards, do you have to put them in a physical phone to keep them active?

You'll have to research those cellular providers and find out about your sim question, I'm sure certain carriers have different policies.

Phone forwarding works, just need to do some research on finding the less used ones.

To receive calls, you have to keep them in a phone but to keep them active, all you need to do is pay the monthly bill

We need to get prepared to receive calls from Amazon right? Even we don't need to pick it up. It means I need to put them in a phone, I still don't get it, do you guys keep 5 or 10 phones at home?
