Professional Individual Business Amazon Account?
 

I'm about to attempt my first Amazon ghost account, which I'd like to use long term and as legit as possible.

Would you guys recommend opening a professional account right away or is that too advanced? What's the best stealth practice?

Individual you can sell 50 items before supplying tax info.

The other you have to supply it up front.

There are a few advantages to using an individual vs a "Professional" account.

1. You don't have to pay 40 dollars per month.

2. You don't have to supply tax info until you have 50 sales.

3. You appear more as a new Amazon seller and thus are less likely to be suspected to be a "returning" seller, if you know what I mean.

You CAN open a professional account right away, but odds are your brand new account with 0 feedback won't make 40 sales in the first 30 days, so really it's a waste. Take it nice and slow and work up your sales....once you start hitting 40 per month, THEN upgrade. :thumb:

I wanted to clarify that I meant the regular marketplace account vs pro merchant account. I remember that I couldn't simply upgrade from one to the other and had to close my original account and be transferred to the new one for some reason.

I'm asking because I had to earn everything anew after the switch. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Yankee I mad an account awhile back with Amazon Business but didn't upgrade to the 50 bucks a month, my regular amazon account has bad feedback from 2012 but the traffic just isn't there.

What are you talking about?

It's 50 ITEMS you can sell per year, not 50 dollars per month.

Amazon Professional Accounts are 39.99 per month subscription.

Good question. I'm guessing that I had an Individual account with Pro Merchant subscription for awhile, then I couldn't do something with it and had to open a Professional account, which required that I close the Individual account.

Sound about right? I need to remember what it was that pushed me to do that. You can either not change shipping preferences or something with just the individual account with Pro Merchant subscription. Other than that, I think they are identical?

You can make a lot more money on shipping with personal accounts, at least for most of my items.

How do you mean?

I think I couldn't change shipping settings, like offer free shipping for example, but I'm not sure.

exactly. Amazon is more generous with shipping allowances with personal accounts. Also, no combined shipping discounts.

This means you make MORE profit.

True but I sell stuff that's really cheap. Especially at the beginning, when I need to sell at cost, this will be a problem.

Can you confirm that that's the difference though?

Not sure what you are asking?

Read on amazon the differences. Tons of them. Such as not receiving payment for 21 days, then 14 day reserve weekly distributions. Not monthly fees.

Thanks for all the advice yankee. I meant the difference between individual account with Pro Merchant subscription and Professional account, in terms of what a seller can do.

Most differences listed pretty much address the Pro subscription and the lack of it.

There never has been any such thing. You misunderstood them when they talked about "Professional Subscription" or perhaps they said "Professional Account Subscription Upgrade" or something to that effect.
