Canada - Amazon Account SSN Question
 

Hi.

So back in November my amazon account was closed, I never sold anything on amazon, I was only a buyer.

They said they linked my account to another account that violated their TOS even though I NEVER HAD ANOTHER AMAZON ACCOUNT nor did anyone in my house.

I told the CIS department that multiple times via email and they always respond to me with the same canned message.

Anyways my friend told me about this site today morning because he remembered me telling him I'm banned from amazon a few months ago.

I bought the ebook and it's pretty good.

I want to start selling stuff on Amazon my friend told me when he signed up to sell stuff on Amazon Kindle they asked him for his SSN.

If I sign up, and provide them my SSN wont they need my REAL name that's associated with my SSN?

They have SSN's in Canada? I didn't know that.

Are you in the USA or Canada? Because knowing that would make it much easier to answer your question. I'm not asking this to be rude, I am asking because it really DOES make a difference.

Welcome to the forums OP - please clarify...are you based in US or Canada? We don't use SSN in Canada

Yes I live in Canada.

By SSN i meant Social Insurance Number (SIN) number. Phone auto corrected to SSN sorry.

We use that for tax reporting purposes

You dont need a ssn for canada amazon unless you sign up with USA address

SIN is voluntary so far and Amazon does not ask of it (As a comparison, PP has been trying to subtly have people give the SIN but keep in mind, that unless you are WORKING for a company or you are receiving benefits (e.g. credit approval, insurance coverage, etc.), giving SIN is not mandatory.

no need for ⊗⊗⊗⊗ accounts anymore

I didn't say it applied to everyone.

It got me my account back.

I sent them my appeal letter since CIS kept replying to me with canned messages and they gave me my account back.
