Brand approval

When did this crap start

I sell computers and tried to list a Dell desktop and Amazon says that they want $1000 to get approved for this brand

They said one of the option was invoices from a "distributor"

What is their definition of a distributor?

Wow, just wow

Amazon wants to make sure that you are selling legit Dell computers. Amazon knows that the only way that you could be selling legit Dell computers is if you purchased them from an authorized Dell "Distributor" and the want invoices with your Name on them to prove that you indeed purchased the computer's from them.

It has been like that for a long time now

And quite honestly, if you do not know what a distributor is, well, then you may consider an new line of work.

Yes I know what a distributor is. My question is Amazon doesn't say Authorized Dell Distributor, just distributor

Definition

A distributor is an intermediary entity between a the producer of a product and another entity in the distribution channel or supply chain, such as a retailer

That's why I ask what their definition

If it is an online retailer and Amazon considers it a legit business then I would think they would approve?

MANY companies like, Dell only allow a selected few companies to distribute their products to retailers like you. Amazon want to be certain that your distributor is one of those the Dell has selected or approved. I have written MANY posts on Distributors and approved supply chains, go back and read some of my earlier posts on this subject, I even explain how to find authorized distributors, including ones for Dell Computers.

One post on this topic for ya kelly, sometimes in order to move up you have to be willing to take a loss to get the access you need.
If you know your stuff is legit, go buy from a distributor that is approved and send said invoice to amazon so you can keep selling.

Amazon is cracking down on the most counterfeit items as it already knows what the bottom line COA are. NO one other than probably walmart can compete with its COA price.
