What is an AVS card and re new FBA rule

Hi all

I am opening a new FBA account, I see now they debit $40 on the vcc immediatley, and may suspend the account if insufficient funds,
Ok thats fine.. Has anyone tried the US Unlocked vcc available from several Freight forwarding companys, so you can shop online with that card, send stuff to them for forwarding?
This has an address on the card same as the shipping company, so its an AVS card ( Visa btw )
My questions.
A) Do l need an AVS card for Amazon.. I dont recall having one before.?
B) What if my Az account address is different to the AVS address.. does Az squish you for that?
C) Sellers on here are asking $100 for a card with $44 loaded on.. seems expensive.. you can get them for $15 + loading at usunlocked.com

Love to hear your feedback..
Gaz

Re: What is an AVS card and re new FBA rule

Hey Gaz

1) Some cards don't need AVS, but its always good to have the billing address match the billing information on the card.

2) Some will deny mismatching information, but most of them work fine if they're your own debit/credit cards.

3) I just checked usunlocked and they have a maintenance fee of about $4 per month. So you would be charged $48 in fees just to have the card active for 1 year (not including the minimum balance you need to cover seller fees, or fees to actually get the card. This is assuming their card works for Amazon as well, which if you haven't tested, probably does not work (the majority of prepaid cards / gift cards don't work on Amazon). I think $100 for a preloaded $44 balance card is a good deal considering they last 6-8 years without maintenance fees.

Hi Elmo..
Look Im sorry.. but I am totally clueless about this AVS thing. so please can you explain..
1) Do l need an avs card for Amazon FBA.
2) If not.. is a non avs card cheaper?
3) If the card has an address on it when I purchase.. what address is it.. and where did it come from? Is it something you just invent yourself?
4) Should it be the same address as registered with my Amazon account?
5) If the card avs address does not match my Amazon sellers account address, will it be rejected by Az?
6) Can your AVS card work with an Australian address.?
This all should be a sticky.. as Im sure im not the only one confused with all this stuff.

Thanks
Gaz

Hi Gaz

Bjammin and I both have cards that will work with any address.

Bjammin sells the USA cards, I have the USA and worldwide ones

You can find both our stores in the marketplace: http://www.aspkin.com/forums/ebay-accounts-sale/

A VCC with $4 pre-loaded amount use to come at around $20-$25. So i believe a $45 VCC should be priced around $60-$70.
