URGENT: US bank to an Amazon UK Stealth Account
 

Hi Guys,

Is it possible to add a US bank account rather than a UK bank account to a UK amazon account under a stealth account sole trader?

Won't it look odd while the account is being verified that the bank added is from the US if its from a UK citizen?

Has anyone done this successfully?

Yes that is no problem at all. I have had many clients do this without issue. at time of verification they may ask for an additional document

Let's assume you are a UK resident and you have a US bank account you want to use. That's perfectly acceptable.

If you are in the US, and you are shipping from the US, and you want to register at amazon.co.uk , you will want to put US information, that way your store appears to be from the US.

This will lead to problems if I want to use FBA as they will require registration from a seller abroad

I would be personally choosing to submit a US Passport as a US Citizen doing business in the UK as a Sole Trader with a unique UTR number. Makes 100 times more sense and you can even then use the USA bank without questions as you are earning money in the UK so makes no odds where the funds end up technically you tax liability is here.

ah ok thanks for your thoughts- surely if I add a US bank account though they will ask for the below docs relating to US tax?

US Sole Proprietors: The following documents may be required:
Fictitious Business Name Certificate: This is issued only once to the seller.
Document from Internal Revenue Service (IRS): To prove that you are registered for paying tax on their earnings. This would most likely be a Tax Return.
Utility Bill, Bank Statement or Credit Card Statement addressed to the Sole Proprietor and dated from the past 90 days.

No because you would be a US citizen working in the UK which means your documents from TAX enforcement would be UK documents as UK is where tax would still need to be paid.

Bare in mind US tax earnings is enforable anywhere in the world. Even a US citizen working in the UK is liable to pay US tax on earnings if the tax they pay in the UK is under a certain threshold

You need to talk to an accountant for the details of it all.

thats true - is it possible to set up an account as a Uk citizen with Uk passport + utr number going to a eurozone country e.g Spanish bank or better to do it start account a Spanish citizen?

First thing to ask really is why you don't just use a UK bank account?

It just seems like your trying to find a complicated solution when there is a super easy one. You would still be liable for tax if you used an overseas bank account so its not all that different to using a UK bank account you just end up loosing money in currency conversions if your selling in £ but withdrawing into $ or EU

I recommend setting up 2 accounts so you can test what works better for yourself

1 with UK info, and then add the US bank
1 with US info, and then add the US bank

The easiest way is just adding a matching bank account. If you're trying to get around paying taxes, there is no way to get around that as long as you're using a bank account that money comes into, you'll be expected to pay taxes.

Its got nothing to do with taxes -prefer to add different country banks

You can give it a go in that case but it does seem to be finding a complicated solution to a simple answer. Stealthing, escpecially Amazon, can be hard enough as it is without making it more complex.
