Happened to me in the past. Nothing to do with the volume of sales, really. I was selling about 20 to 30 units per week and never got the notice. However, I received this email in a bad season (not many sales). I had to send in the invoices and everything went back to normal.
If the email says that your account will be suspended if you don't send them the invoices, you should send them the info. If the email is talking about only one ASIN and that they will not let you list this ASIN if you don't submit the info, you can just delete the ASIN from inventory and carry on with your sales. However, if your account goes under review subsequently for another (a second) "inauthentic" claim, you'll have to provide them with the info or risk getting suspended.
That's from my experience across several amazon USA seller accounts.
