Debit card not being accepted.
 

Having a bit of trouble today with a debit card, Its a real debit card that was used to open an account a couple of months back, guess Amazon tried to withdraw its £1 before releasing funds today, unfortunately I had emptied the account a few days ago and the bank has took there monthly fees so there was only 30p credit so the card failed and now amazon is asking to update or supply a new card before it allows me access to my orders. I have moved some money into that account and just re entered the same card details hoping that now the £1 check would work but it is still showing as invalid. My worry is that amazon is now looking at the address. Or I am hoping its just a delay.
Anyone else having trouble..

Try logging into your buyer account and removing it from there, and then reading.

Remove the card, then re-add it after it has sufficient funds. If it doesn't work, try another debit/credit with sufficient funds

I know you entered the stealth name and address, but you should try using the correct zip code (to match bank's info). Some banks now verify zip code.

For instance, just use an address of the supermarket a few blocks away from your home.

If you remove the card then you should be able to re-add it

That wont always work, but most the time it does

James North - I want to add a new bank debit card to may amazon stealth account.

This new bank card - has my real name and address.
The name and address on my stealth account is different.

If I add the card - how does amazon try to match information from the card to the bank to verify it?

Put the name / address that is on your amazon stealth account

Mismatching info will go through the majority of the time

It's a glitch in their system. Remove and try it few hours or a day later.

debit card can be used to register account also?

Move it closer to "truth" experimentally:

1. mismatched address and mismatched zip code
2. mismatched address and true zip code
3. true address and and true zip code

Bank will always accept setup No. 3 (name is never a problem). But No. 3 gives you higher risk of being linked.

I can confirm that. A few month ago, I have the same issue with one of my cards.

P.S. Option2 is to contact customer support.

That's how AVS works in US -- some banks adopting stricter requirement than others and demanding zip code match.

Not sure whether it applies to UK...

Having this same issue with one of my accounts, very frustrating. Have a number of other accounts using the same vcc as the one I'm using without any issues but got this one account that throws up this credit card issue continuously. Very frustrating.

Then best not to really speak of the UK situation :)

I use UK accounts but never work debit cards so I use straight up bank info
