when does Amazon ask and when do they require tax info/SSN?
 

Little bit confused about the topic.

Seems like if you sell 50 items, then tax info/SSN is required or they will block your selling. Is there a dollar amount you need to reach also? Or is it whatever comes first (50 items for the dollar amount)?

Also it seems like when you hit 25 sold items Amazon requests for your tax info/SSN, so if if I sell say 40 items in the year, is it still going to be in a requested state and they won't block my selling as long as I stay under 50? Or is it to where you have submit it once requested (even if you never hit 50 sold items)?

Not a business seller, just a student with 3-4 books each semester with value ($50 or more) that I need to sell before newer editions come out and these tank in value. But, I also have several chapter story books, I doubt they are worth more than a few dollars, if anything. Not sure if it's worth my time listing those if I need to get into the whole tax ids mess.

No, you are fine up til 49 items... the request will go away as of Jan 1st of the next year. LPT: If you accidentally sell 50 or 51, just cancel the last ones to get back below 50. :)

They ask for tax info upon pro registered accounts, individual to pro upgrade, or after 50 items the same calendar year.
