I tried opening an Amazon UK account from the USA and they immediately wanted an ID (passport). Is this common? Is there any way to avoid this requirement as I do not have a passport.

Having the exact same issue at the moment. My usual methods are failing.

I am hoping its extra security for the Christmas season.

Yep happening across all U.K. Amazon accounts now as far as I am aware

After you uploaded the ID you get the 15k email, where it says you can not sell up to 15k, right?

You're saying that paying 500+ GBP for a shot in the dark at getting a UK seller account is something that should be accepted?

Lets not hijack this thread for opinions here, we don't wan't the boss to close it down.

I was asking OP if he got the 15k message after he uploaded the 2 docs. Would be greatful if someone could answer this.

you are right thank to those genius.... and everybody should decide by himself if its worth to risk 500 or not... and should not cry afterwards.... thanks for that...
