Purchasing >$5000 on Amazon

I regularly purchase very large amounts of third-party inventory on Amazon.com, usually >$5000 and sometimes more.

I am trying to find creative ways of getting discounts on Amazon.com purchases.

I use my Canadian Fido credit card which gives 4% cashback on foreign purchases (which equates to 1.5% cashback after Forex fees). I am trying to build US credit history but have none right now and am not eligible for any US credit cards, especially the sought after Amazon.com credit card.

I understand people can buy Amazon.com gift-cards but I don't feel comfortable buying from private sellers for risk of being ripped off either through the transaction or the giftcards being stolen and having null value and/or getting my Amazon.com buyer account closed.

I thought about purchasing giftcards online at discount for brick-n-motor stores which sell Amazon.com giftcards such as Meijers. This way I can get ~3-8% off. Purchasing with my Fido card gives an additional 1.5% cashback for a total of ~4.5-9.5%.

From all the stores I've called so far to see if this is allowed im given the sassy "I dun' know, sir".

Has anyone else have any creative ideas?

Reg a Affiliate Amazon Account, buy via your link. You get 5-7% cash back.

I would forget about buying a giftcard with any credit card. atleast in u.s its very sad but most stores will only take cash now when buying credit card. the only thing I can thing of is topcashback.com but that only works in some cats on amazon.

This is brilliant.

There are roughly >1000 different listings i'll purchase from and its always changing. I can't realistically create 1000's of referral links for this.

I believe that when you open a referral link, a cookie stays in your browser so if you leave the original listing you were linked to you can still generate referral purchases. So, before I start spending 10 hours purchasing items I open a referral link to any item then start my purchasing.

Do you know if this would work?

Also I am pretty sure this is forbidden usage. What do you think the potential consequences are? Buyer account suspension?

You need an Associate Amazon Account which have good history. Make sure your IP, computer, web browser is different from buyer account. 2 accounts need to be seperated. Then just buy everything in 24 hours after you click on the ref link.

That is a lot of work for really not that much gains.. Its also risky buying your own ref links.

I think a better option is get a solid reward credit card, depending on what you like to do. If you like to travel, there are tons of cards out there to get you miles. Or get the best cash back card available...

Head on over to flyertalk forums and they usually have the best avenue for best reward cards available.
