Very complicated tax issue with stealth accounts
I have a couple of Canadian stealth accounts.
I am obligated to collect GST/HST on all sales in Canada. Amazon.ca will not collect sales tax unless you give them a "Federal Tax ID" in your account tax settings. The "Federal Tax ID" is a Canadian Business Number registered with the Canada Revenue Agency. Its used to uniquely identify your business and to collect and remit GST/HST (13% in Canada).
In Canada, its very tricky. The "Federal Tax ID" number is your Business Number "GST/HST" number unique to you. You can only have one number. The only way to change the number is you change your legal structure between 1) Sole Proprietor, 2) Partnership, 3) Corporation, 4) Declare bankruptcy. But this still only provides you with a single number. I have multiple stealth accounts which would all need their unique numbers.
Please understand its difficult explaining situations like this to other communities who are not familiar with the complexity of stealth. Being straight forward with my situation and concerns in other communities immediately turns me in to a pariah. Because of this I have to conceal the question which is frustrating and gives unsatisfactory answers.
I understand its different in the states, but I hope there are Amazon.ca / Canadian veterans who could throw me a bone on this matter.
