Default Amazon FBA

I've never sold on Amazon before and I'm interested in the fulfilment by amazon service. Do any of you recommend going straight into FBA or taking care of shipping etc yourself first and waiting until you build up more sales? It just seems with FBA I would get generate more sales anyways.

Any tips or opinions on amazon FBA would be helpful. Thanks!

In my experience - I have always jumped straight into FBA but I have always sent in used books as my first shipment as they are low risk.

I was thinking it seems better. I'm just stuck on knowing how much inventory of each product I should buy first. I don't want to buy a really small amount or too much that it might not sell. Any tips on that for starting out?

Make sure your inventory is genuine and not subject to possible inauthentic accusation

Yeah FBA is definately the way forward for growing on Amazon, Amazon Vendor is another option as well if you want to grow like that, it will involve you registering your company name as a trademark though.

Depending on what you are selling, its an idea to send in a loss leader item, low value and sell it at just above cost. Will help generate sales and feedback quickly.

Only other word of advice for Amazon would be to subscribe to one of the feedback services that auto email the customers x number of days after delivery asking for feedback and reviews

I love FBA. It makes things a lot easier for the seller and Amazon takes care of the rest.

But again, your products have to be authentic. It's just the initial setup and shipping part is the harder part, but once you are used to it, you'll enjoy FBA.

I was also wondering how hard it is in the begin to start with Amazon FBA? For myself when I buy something on Amazon I buy from a seller with good reviews - and obviously starting out I will have none. Are the sales really slow in the beginning?

As long as it's FBA customers don't care about feedback or new account

Amazon is making moves to eliminate multiple things on the platform. These consist of arbitrage (retail & online), merchant fulfilled and grey market private labeling. Amazon does not want you sending items to their customers. I emphasized the "their" because Amazon makes it abundantly clear in countless resources that the buyers are their customers. They want the product that is listed for sale in their possession so that when a buyer places an order, they can ensure that the order is picked, packed and shipped in the next to flawless methods that they have developed and deliver the best possible buying experience as often as possible.

I often recommend the same tactic DeanCallaway speaks of above. Metrics and feedback is a numbers game. Find a safe item that is small/light that you can send an abundance in and sell at a reasonable rate. Allow these burner items to pad your metrics and feedback.

FBA is always better in regards to volume and disbursements. Can you risk the inventory getting wrote off should be the question you're asking yourself.

You should be aware of the fees for the category you indeed to sell in, they vary from 10-30+%. I've had some nasty surprises. The time spent on inventory and order management is significant, you will have to evaluate for your own needs. Be aware that issues can occur with both in the customer > amazon > seller ether.
