Thank you. I've used only half of the GBP15,000 quota. What will happen if I ignore the warning and keep selling? Can I still sell (and, of course, receive payment for) an additional GBP7,000 worth of items? Or is full suspension already imminent?

The warning banner says:"Additional information is required to open your Selling on Amazon payment account. Please provide the requested information immediately. "

Sure and the authorities will be happy to help Amazon out, giving out personal information? Nope, that's not how it works.

However as JamesNorth said it isn't easy.

I'm in your situation atm and just waiting for the next cashout and then I'm gonna give it a go and submit the docs right away, fingers crossed...

It's tax doc. Why won't the authority work with Amazon to make sure every seller is under close monitor (i.e. with valid tax ID traceable to a valid entity)?

lets say you and me make a contract and I ask you for documents such as your passport, tax docs and so on. Could I just go to the revenue department with the doc you gave me and ask them to verify its real? They'd propbably ask me to either **** off or at least get a confirmation from you that it's ok to check such data with them. I could of just stolen that document from you... In that respect there is no difference between an individual (me) or a multinational company (Amazon). So no, they can not check the authenticity with the authorities.

Having said that, there are publicly available information (such as check digits in UTR number) and these numbers can be verified weather they are real or not by using the publicly available algorithm. Amazon will most likely check weather the UTR number you give to them is a mathematically possible UTR number or not.

The same goes for your ID.

Amazon is not a common person. It is a payment handling channel, acting in a manner similar to banks (as far as tax-collecting, anti-laundering, anti-terrorists operations are concerned).

I would even say the regulator will proactively DEMAND Amazon to submit info of large sellers (defined as >GBP15,000), and help/require Amazon to find out "creative" docs.

Putting speculation aside, may I ask whether you have prior experience in making up UTR number and managing to pass review? Actually this is all I want to know.

You can check the algorithm online and then make a number up that fits the algorithm. You can download a book keeping software like BTC software (trial version) where you can check weather you did the math correctly or not. Because if you enter an UTR number into that software it'll tell you if the number is incorrect.

You're thinking the wrong way around btw. The government would not provide any information to amazon, while amazon on the other hand might be required to provide certain information to the government (ie. to prevent money laundering, terrorists, tax fraud and what not).

I’ve had 2 Uk seller account fail verification in the past month. I needed a new account after my long standing account was linked to another account and blocked.

Both were with new ltd companies and different directors who have never had a seller account before. Genuine company docs and passports were uploaded and after 3 weeks waiting each received an email stating verification failed.

Both accounts were set up well on different new PCs with their own dedicated IPs and sold different items for a month before the KYC process kicked in. The accounts do not seem to have been linked.

I can’t understand why they are failing this process as the ID is legit and residential address true too. The things concerning me are they both had Payoneer GBP accounts and the registered business addresses were set up at different locations but each with a virtual office service.

Any idea if these are the problem? Are amazon failing this due to Payoneer when I should probably have a proper GBP bank? Or are they seeing the virtual office address and not liking that? I can’t see what else the issue is as the directors have authorised their part in the company formation.

Please share your thoughts as this is confusing me.

Payoneer is not the issue here. I have verified lots of accounts with payoneer attached.

The virtual office address might be a problem. Maybe you are not the only one who has set up an office at that specific address and is registered to AMZ? This might get you linked.

Also you said you have submitted legit IDs. Have you submitted the same Ids for both accounts?

tbh there are tons of things that could get you linked, maybe your technical setup isn't good enough, maybe the items you are selling on both accounts are too similar.
