Can Amazon check and verify UTR numbers for UK sellers?
I've heard that every UTR is a unique formula and they can match the business establishment date/city/sole proprietor's age and other data to the number to see if it's valid.
Also, they might have access to the UTR database
What do you think?

They don't have access to anything that's not public record.

Only the algorithm is on public record. You can google it and make up a mathematically correct UTR.

No they can't check but they can check the number if it has check digit as dachilla mentioned

They can only verify the check digit. And they do check that so it has to be right
