Tax Interview Question

I've never used my SSN on Amazon, so I was going to use it for the tax interview. When I do the tax interview, I put my stealth info with my real SSN. At the bottom, it asks for me to "give consent to provide an electronic signature for my W-9". The way that it words "Under Penalty of Perjury, I Certify that....." before my electronic signature, is scary. If I use my social and stealth name/ address, are they gonna put that on a tax form? I definitely don't want to do anything that's gonna get me in trouble with the IRS. Do I just sign my real signature and assume that they Amazon won't read it? Thanks for the help

Hmmm.... instead of a personal info, I'd use a business info to blanket over all of this.

Can you do that? This way, all the info, name, EIN, phone etc matches with IRS

I could spend hundreds of dollars initially, then hundreds of dollars per year for an LLC, but I have never used my SSN. Therefore, why not use it?

Using your SSN may pull a name mismatch from the IRS

I'm just trying to figure out the process. Is this not a thing? I thought that your SSN could be used to verify an account

Re: Tax Interview Question

Why not instead register an LLC and then add your LLC name so everything lines up

Because that would cost me $300 for LLC, plus $300 per year. Or I could register in another state, which is a big headache. If you can use your SSN, why would I not?

Re: Tax Interview Question

You can just match it up with your name

If you previously used your name or SSN then your other option is an LLC where you can create a unique business name

Re: Tax Interview Question

I've never used my social, which is the whole point. My name was used on my account that was suspended years ago, but names are pretty universal. I've been trying to get a straight answer on this for a couple of weeks before I move forward. Simply put- I thought that you could use your SSN (if you haven't used it already) or EIN to verify. If this is not true, feel free to tell me. If it is true, which name do I use? This is the question

Re: Tax Interview Question

if you have not used your SSN then you can use it to register

but keep in mind you will be at risk because you previously did use your name, even though its universal like you say

the best option is an llc where you can create a unique name you for sure have not used before

if you get linked, it will often happen for selling same/similar items using the same/similar name. amazons linking algos are insane, I personally wouldn't risk any similarities

Re: Tax Interview Question

I'm back around to this. I got an LLC and finally an EIN. I am wondering about the address verification, firstly. There is a place in the tax interview for an address. I wanted to make sure that they didn't verify this. I got an out-of-state LLC. I'm scared to put an out of state address or my real address.
Also, still running into the signature. I would still have to sign a name. I'd hate to sign a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ name for a tax form, but I'd hate to sign my real name as well. What is the process?

Also, it wants to know my LLC type- S Corporation, C Corporation or Partnership. It is none of these (I don't think). It is a single member LLC (a "disregarded entity"). Not sure what to put here, either

If this is an original account, yes, you can use your SSN to verify it.
So go for it. Just make sure that everything you do in this original account is safe and legit.

And for filing taxes, I highly recommend getting a CPA specially if your volume and costs are high enough.

Like I said, if this is all an original account with all your info, I suggest just using your real name and all your real info.

I don't see a reason to be afraid at all.

For amazon ghost accounts, that's where you put your alternate names.

Yeah, this is a stealth account

Re: Tax Interview Question

The issues are 1) that the address won't match and 2) What name do I sign?
