Hi guys,

any Chinese seller on here that has been affected by the recent closures of Amazon Accounts on amazon.de due to vat evasion?

This is news to me. Did this affect you? I wonder if there are any news articles / outrage in other forums about this. If it can happen on .de it can happen on all marketplaces.

Is this applied to only digital items? Sorry, from USA, so don't totally get what's going on over there.

german tax authorities basically search down systematically through the amazon website and looking for chinese sellers without vat number. thereafter they contact amazon asking them for further information about the seller. if tax authorities believe he doesn't pay his vat and amazon receives the notice regarding it, Amazon close down the account, hold all funds and seize their goods in amazon FBA. it has been 500 chinese accounts so far, it has been reported.
its getting tough now..

ahhhh, so VAT is like an EIN number here in the states. Germans want those Chinese sellers to have a tax paying number.
