Ship from zip code
 

Why does amazon not detect the ship from zip codes to link accounts?

For example, say account is suspended and always shipped from zip code 12345.


Now you have a new account setup and you are still shop from that same zip code. How does amazon not easily detect this ?

Because of the possibility that there are multiple sellers in the same zip code. Certain cities (City of Industry, California comes to mind) have hundreds of merchants who sell online which aren't affiliated with each other in any way.

That is what I thought. On Walmart though they will ding your metrics if you ship confirm using a tracking number that did not “originate” with the zip code on your account...

That sucks. If that were a metric eBay kept track of I would have been doomed years ago.

Too many ppl live in a zone for a zip code - banning all accounts relating to a zip code would cause a lot of problems unnecessarily for other ppl

Same shipping zip code is only 1 similarity and usually not enough to link accounts

But if you wree shipping from the same zip code, and selling the same items and had the same routing number at your bank, that may be enough to link/suspend

They do now.. I wrote a solution for updating eBay zip codes on listings though (as per the new eBay item location policy).
