I have not sold on Amazon yet, but if what is happening with you happens with someone else here, I wouldn't be blown up by it. The more I learn about Amazon, the more I am aware of how shady and crooked this company is.
Yes i can confirm it. Usually if the see that the items are a good selling item and some sellers have them in FBA they claim a small amount of product are warehouse defected or carrier damaged etc. Or they are not able to return it to the seller and just can destroy it.
They do that on multiple sellers and this is how they gain a good amount of free inventory and sell it (and of course the drop the sells price)
Amazon DOES steal inventory from sellers. I have seen many sellers already talking about this specific issue. You for sure can do something about about, namely, coming here and complaining.
