Is the deal between Apple and Amazon legal?
 

Amazon and Apple struck a deal so that only Apple authorized re-sellers could sell Apple merchandise on Amazon.


Is this legal? Can a company control who can or can't sell its used products?


I watched a video made by Louis Rossmann about this and it seems that the only sellers who buy 10 millions $ worth of Apple products a year will be allowed to sell on Amazon!!!


Is this legal? Or they simply don't give a f**k?

In the USA, it's legal until a court says it isn't legal since there's really no precedence.

Honestly though I would think it's legal. How is this any different than Apple before e-commerce only allowing huge brick-and-mortar retailers (who could meet $10mil MOQ's) to sell their products? We are far from living in a real "capitalist" economy, lol.

On another note this is two trillion dollar corporations working together in back rooms, and they really don't give a f**k.

Yes. A private business can sell what it wants and do deals with who it wants. Hence why they can lock people out of accounts.

This is precisely how Amazon have grown so big.

Steal someone else's successful business model.

Ban sellers from selling the original item.

Ensure a monopoly with the original supplier/manufacturer.

They are a monster.

No, they are private companies, but are publicly traded, but they are still run by a board of directors, they do not answer to any government department. Its their platform and they are free to do as they please, until they break a certain law, such as being a monopoly. They have the best team of lawyers, and the best lobbyists money can buy, believe me they make sure they double check anytime they take a step.

Legality is not the obstacle here, they are sharks they try to bully everyone, that’s the problem. They have to money to do so.

Sounds a lot like ebay in early 2000's. Seen many of these same type of posts. Now look another beast has come along and public decided what it liked. Until the masses make a splash nothing will happen.

How exactly? eBay in comparison to Amazon sounds like THE place for sellers like us.

Pretty sure this is the same reason I recently got shut down on ebay, selling genuine apple products but with the invoice not being from their verified list, we got closed.

Those aren't Apple products.

Maybe they'll tighten enforcement of the "MFi" program though. :noidea:
