How to keep track of what you've already listed?

i plan on listing thousands of items and i want to be able to know if I've already listed the item or not. If i listed already, I don't want to list it again. How can I keep track or how do you guys keep track of what you've already listed?

Keep a log of them in excel/alphabetically sort them
