Selfie for Stealth
Is Amazon requiring selfie photo uploads now for new accounts? If so, how to navigate around this for ghost accounts? |

They were testing it sporadically last couple weeks, whether its going to be permanent or not only time will tell
From experience, when they test things, they usually bring them on months later |

I think Chinese scammers are pushing Amazon to deploy such measures. I saw a video the other day made by Wall Street Journal about Chinese vendors and their shady tactics to take competition down.
Apparently, a lot of users in China are making ⊗⊗⊗⊗ accounts en masse to leave ⊗⊗⊗⊗ reviews and get sellers banned right and left. |

| This seems possible as there has been tons of chinese amazon stores coming onto the market as of the last 6 months, more than I remember seeing. |

My comment has nothing to do with Amazon, but Mercari has implemented the whole selfie picture thing when re-instating accounts that are Limited. Also, they do verify the ID is real when it gets scanned by their app. |

Because of the nature of the business, there'll be many sites out there that will either scam you or provide shoddy service quality.
We are fortunate enough we have this forum where we can safely purchase stuff that we need with no worries. |

You know what else is interesting is a service called NetVerify or something like that, which a lot of crypto exchanges started implementing about a year back due to KYC.
There were lots of people unable to get through it posting all over various BTC forums. Curious to know how much they can actually verify if none as most people say have database access |

The service I posted about in the other thread in response to "The Demon" says on the website that one of the services they offer compares the biometric data in the selfie face with that of the ID face. It also says they do a "liveness check" to make sure it's not a photoshopped still photo being presented.
I've seen plenty of dark net offerings for eBooks claiming to teach people how to validate ID numbers.
So I guess if you combine those two technologies (+ probably a few other neat tricks) you can fairly accurately assess whether or not an ID is real without having access to a government database. |
