Canadian Amazon Account Taxes
 

Hi,

Looking for some help/advise

I want to turn on tax collection on my Canadian Amazon Account(might be the same with US based Amazon accounts).

They require an HST account # to proceed. I do have a number that I can use.

What I wondering if I enter the HST # will it trigger any other verification process on Amazon (i.e. will they now require a copy of my business license etc)

Ive never had requests for verifcation, although other canadians i know have had requests for proof of their Business Number. HST account # = Business number.

Be careful. Reusing BN = linked = suspended. Each canadian only gets 1 BN for life. Only way to get more is to 1) declare bankruptcy or 2) form a canadian corporation or 3) partnership.

If you are a US citizen you dont want to do 2 or 3 as you will be hit bigly with Controlled Foreign Corporation issues / double taxation.

Are we saying that any one person can't have more that one federal BIN.

But I have found this information

When you own a Sole Proprietorship, General Partnership or Partnership.

If you operate a Sole Proprietorship, General Partnership or Partnership in any Province, these registrations do not have the ability to operate a secondary business underneath these existing businesses however you can operate a secondary business by registering another Sole Proprietorship, General Partnership or Partnership. In doing this, you will operate 2 completely separate businesses with separate bank accounts, separate HST, payroll etc.

Banking and taxation for a Sole Proprietorship, General Partnership or Partnership would fall under the individual owners of the business, the same as the original business in operation. The existing HST, payroll and any other accounts cannot be shared by the new business with the existing business registration. You may need to set up a new and secondary HST, payroll and any other accounts such as WSIB under the new business.

So doing this it would give me 2 separate business licenses and numbers registered in the province

Now I feel so confused

I want to register a new sole proprietorship in the new business name so I can get an HST account to use for the account.

Not sure what to do....I'm afraid they will verify the person who owns the business to the person on the account.

You'll have the same BN, it will just have a different leading end. Example.

XXXXXXXXXRT0001

XXXXXXXXXRT0002

Amazon wants "XXXXXXXX" not "RT0001 / RT0002". Even if they did you'll still be linked. Every individual can only have one BN for life. If you want more see my first reply. Only options.

bUT WHAT does it have to d o with Trump?
Are you telling us something we dont know Yet,tariff on Canadian imports?
5 % every month,rising to 75% in 10 months?
