Who has authority over a brand / product on Amazon?
 

Who has authority over a brand / product on Amazon? Does a distributor? Or only the manufacturer? And what authority does this person have? Can they request any brands they own on amazon be removed? Can they request removals of certain sellers of their brands on amazon? Can they force amazon to only allow a list of specific sellers to sell? What exact powers do they have?

Let’s say Im in Canada and sell on Amazon.ca. There is a branded product manufactured in Japan. The Distributor in Canada does not allow “Amazon sales” but I am able to source from a distributor from Europe. What power does this distributor in Canada have? Do they have an authority to flag my offers of this product on Amazon.ca? Can they file IP Complaints against me or do any other activates? What power do they have?

I would think if you did not buy from CA distributor,he cant tell you what to do.
even if you buy from him and sell on AMZN,all he can do is close your account and refuse to sell to you?
I doubt if he can ask AMZN to remove your listings
someone may come and shed more light .
I know from my own personal experience dealing with prestigeous companies,if they have an exclusive agent in my country,they will ask me to place order with him,if not,they will check to see where I sell and for how much,they dont want anyone to cheapen their products.
