Amazon ungating question - Camera and Sony category
 

Hi All-

I am a 10 year Amazon seller selling mostly used cameras and video cameras. Canon, Sony, Fuji, Nikon ect....

We are a legit business - LLC, vendors licence, 30K + lifetime sales and 99% feedback + excellent metrics. All of a sudden we got an email from Amazon saying they are gating us from SONY - they gave us until December 4th before they will become restricted.

I am trying to find distributors to satisfy the requirements they will be asking for but these ungating services legit? I am worried it can lead me into a further mess of suspension if it doesn't work out. Sony is about 25% of our total sales so its a huge hit but not as big of a hit as a closed account...

I am not sure that is the case with Sony though - I have fellow sellers that never received the email and there was no mention of it in the forums so as of now everyone else can continue selling Sony camera category - most other Sony categories are restricted. I seemed to trip whatever threshold Amazon had for me via return requests/AZ claims/ect... I am one of the top sellers in my small nitch camera category, we sell just shy of 1MIL each year - and none of the smaller sellers received this notification.

you said most other Sony items are restricted,so how can camera not be restricted?

APPL is now selling on AMZN,could it be SONY make a deal with AMZN as well,only its licensed dealers can sell.

I have not caught any wind of Sony making a deal with Amazon like Apple did. I am fairly certain that Sony camera category has not been gated because there is no counterfeit market for these products like there are with headphones, moves, ect...

Very possible that these are the final days of camera category being open but as of right now there are hundreds of small and large sellers selling used Sony cameras. We repair them and resell them - we made a business out of it for 10 years but unless I am able to find a distributor I think my time is done.
