Re: Amazon marketplace is a beast. Is that true?
In my opinion it is absolutely true. Dealing with new regulations and requests can be a real nightmare, but the wold is developing in a certain direction and Amazon makes no difference here.
Per se, Amazon as a typical US company, hates regulation or at least used to. When you look at the recent developments in Europe, you will see, that a lot of regulations, for example the whole tax issue, was forced upon Amazon by the European Union. Amazon does not make any money by enforcing these regulations, they are simply following the rules politicians are forcing upon them. Even in the contrary, I am sure, that Amazon has to deal with hefty costs in terms of personnel to get these regulations in place.
Some of us might still remember the days, when registering a seller account was a thing of a few clicks, name, address, bank account, thats it, you were ready to sell. No verification at all. But as I said, the world has changed, especially the whole financial sphere and what is possible today and what is not.
If you want to figure out, if Amazon is worth all the headache, I would like to answer that with a metaphor (slightly sexist, but I hope you guys dont mind) Imagine you are in a club and you are looking at the hottest chick around, who is there with her still okay girlfriend. You are considering to walk over and planning to chat her up. So now it all depends, how much effort and money and time you wanna invest to get laid. You get the comparison.
In the end Amazon and all the hassle it comes with, can only be a full time job, if you want to make some real money.
Hope that helps :D
