Providing DL # or PassPort
 

I haven't created a new Amazon account in a couple of years and I was trying to create a couple. On the first page, they now ask for either your drivers license number or passport number. What is the deal? I tried to read around on here little bit, but most of the threads dealing with this where not in the US. I don't wanna follow info they might not be right.

I know I have never given them my passport number. Will they just verify that it's a legit passport number or will they verify the info on it? I would assume not all info would be verified, but I just don't want to do anything dumb. What do I need to know on this? TIA

They will visually verify the information manually or automated

Like, they will visually verify my passport number or DL number? What do you mean? They will just verify that it's a legitimate number, or they will verify other info as well?

no one can tell you with certainty how they verify the information

all we know is stealth shops have a very low pass rate

If you're using your legit info then you should be able to verify your account

So, what are we saying here? That I should give them my passport #, even though the names won't match?

they will access the same data bases the police man and US customs access when you are stopped on the road or returning to US.
