Selling BOOKS on Amazon..a thing of the past?
 

I have a fairly new account created this year. It seems that any and every book yields the same message when I try to list. "There are limitations on this listing and we are not currently accepting applications" or something of that nature. What is going on in the book selling part of Amazon?

A lot of categories are getting gated.

Wait until after CHristmas and sell something else?

how did you list your item?
find the book listing and on the right side ,it said have a copy,sell yours here and click on it,make sure the IBAN etc number matches yours

unless you have an account with them,else the fees are pretty stiff,make sure you dont lose money after paying for shipping

that happens with certain titles

I've seen it also drop off on accounts that are established

it comes and goes - keep checking back if you're unable to list every month

No,books are books,AMZN does not limit number of books available.

Thats what I thought. Amazon is the place for books. Its a whole other ball game than what it was just 2 years ago. Amazon does not even welcome trade ins anymore. Every single book/textbook I click on "sell yours" says there are limitations with this ISBN and they are currently not accepting applications. ANY CONDITION. Anyone in the USA having this problem?

I just added a book to my account,no problem.
you can go to AMZN seller forum and ask

try abe books, also other platforms. just to widen your reach. just a few tips, also try Etsy

ABE could be listing on AMZN as well,take a look
Etsy is not a place for books,try Ebay

lot of textbooks specifically are being gated

there is a lot of uncertainty and sellers have had inventory losses because 1 day the book is sellinh without issues ,next morning its gated and your inventory is dead .lot of sellers have been hit by gating .

I have been selling non text books on AMZN for many years,never come across any problem

its an issue only with textbooks.they suddenly get gated.These books have a seasonal rise in sale volume during back to school times so anyone selling them will hold a sizeable inventory .amz will randomly gate some textbooks every now and then .Volumes on other websites are much lower than amz hence youll take a lot of time (a year to 2 ) to get rid of large inventories or else take a loss and dispose them .

WHY DOES AMZN want to gate textbooks when buyers need these books going back to school?
Unless they are promoting the large textbook sellers?

It means there is somebody more important selling that book and they don't want competition.
