Amazon now showing "business name" taken from EIN (my real name) ...how do I change?
 

I just noticed today to my horror that Amazon has been using the "Business name" from the EIN to display as "business name," which in my case is a real name. I could swear that when I checked back in September they were using the display name, but now they're using the individual's name from the EIN if it was a sole proprietorship. They even link to it now in the product pages. Lots of privacy concerns there.

I assume the fix to this is filing a new EIN or restructuring...is there a FAQ or cookbook on this? Would changing to a single-member LLC do it?

Am also getting a version of this with eBay with them wanting my SSN for their "managed payments" and I'm not giving them that. As with PayPal, I'll give an EIN but not an SSN. I'm sure I'm not the only one in this situation but any guidance is appreciated.

Ugh, changing info in amazon is risky they can ask documents at any given time.

Is it such a big deal to let it sit if your acc is doing well?

The items are medium VERO-sensitive. The account has operated for 14 years but has had some hits from that and from time to time, and an overly zealous one or getting too many hits at the same time (even unjustified) could bring it down. Plus the privacy concerns, not wanting stalkers or people trying to insist on picking up items, etc.

Sounds like this account already has quite a few strikes.
If it really concerns you go ahead and change the info, with the mindset that they might or might not ask for doc verification.

On a side note, consider making a new amazon ghost account or 2 so you have some back ups too

Thanks for that, but how do I go about changing the info? Would filing for a single-member LCC be enough? Or does it take more? I've never had anything but a sole proprietorship, but now there's Amazon with this, and eBay with wanting an SSN when I have stealths on both eBay and PayPal dating to 14 years ago.
