Received Amazon email... URGENT: Upload your UK VAT number now
 

As this is a stealth account is it possible to register for VAT or is this account finished?

In the body of the email it reads....

"Please respond to this case with proof of vat registration application as an attachment in pdf format. Valid proof can include one of the following: confirmation letter from your tax advisor that they have submitted an application on your behalf or a copy/ screenshot of the application to HMRC if you have made the application directly. "

Is there room for creativity here (a screenshot of an application is easy enough i would think) to keep the account alive... or is this the time to stop sales and to get any remaining disbursements out?

You can register for VAT you would need valid VAT information that will match the information you provide

Ok thanks, but how would that work if i have a stealth name and address?

I give hmrc real name and then use the Vat number on stealth account? Would Amazon not check vat number tallies with my account registered name/address?

I obviously don't want to give any false info to hmrc...i'm not sure if i can use 'real name...trading as...' to get anywhere? Address would still be a problem.

if your account is stealth, then it is must that you should give the stealth information as amazon will telly and it should match the information.

Go to settings -> VAT information on your amazon shop

You'll see you can input the VAT name/details there, which should match your legit information

Ok, the VAT details (legit) won't match my stealth details. Do they check this?
Also, can the same VAT details be used on a second account?

I wonder if i can register for vat with hmrc using stealth details and then change them (give my real details to hmrc) after Amazon have checked they match?

Or change vat number om Amazon at a later date (register twice with hmrc....stealth and real?)
