Shutting down store with poor metrics then reopening it

Against the advice of the forum, I opened a Amazon seller account in my real details. I've never sold on amazon before, only ebay, and I'm finding the adjustment to be somewhat difficult.

My first listing seems to have a high defect rate (3% vs AMZN's 1% target), and I received a message claiming my account is at risk of being "deactivated".

As I was thinking of changing entity types anyway, I was wondering if its possible to simply deactivate this store, then create a new one when I feel up to the task. Eg I have my inventory QA under control, I'm more familiar with the listing process, etc

Will my old metrics be "deleted" from my account if I create a new one? Is it a fresh start essentially? Jw, thanks!

New one - link free, new info - shouldn't have any of the old metrics ...why have the link exist?

To be clear, it's not suspended. They just say my store has poor metrics. Wouldn't shutting it down for an extended period of time just "reset" it? I mean, a shut down store can't accrue any more negative metrics than it already has

At least that's how it works on Ebay (aka metrics are calculated within a rolling window)

Instead of just shutting it down, i'd sell something lowkey that would keep activity low and help with metrics - if possible

You could but you would likely run into issues if your new shop is suspended and they're able to review the past store

Go with a stealth shop and start fresh, that's likely less risky

Then do better with the metric that needs improving.
Don't just take a short cut.

Correct, a period of inactivity will correct the metric issue. Ignore any advice to create new accounts, once linked you could be permanently banned albeit that you can have more than one account if you're metrics are goods. IMO if they recognise a second account they'll see it as a deliberate attempt to circumvent policy issues. Not good with Amazon. A stealth account is overkill, indeed it's a ridiculous suggestion.

Can you not sell a few uncontentious bits of tat as 'loss leaders' to give your account and it's metrics a cheap and quick boost?

some people only have the choice of going stealth

operating stealth shops correctly won't ever get you linked

they're great tools for newcomers to build experience on Amazon before going with their 1 and only chance of using their own account

using a stealth shop while your main shop is inactive is also efficient

lots of benefits of stealth shops :P

You would say that.

Anyway, in this case OP wants is a simple solution to their short term metrics issue, creating a new account ain't the answer. :thumb:
