Provide proof of liability insurance coverage

Amazon sent mail today that I have to provide in 30 days.

Why did I receive this message?
As of September 1, 2021, under section 9 of the Business Solutions
Agreement, you must obtain and maintain at least $1 million of commercial
general, umbrella, or excess liability insurance, within 30 days after
exceeding $10,000 in gross sales proceeds in a month on Amazon or if
otherwise requested by Amazon.

any idea how to solve or where to get this.

Re: Provide proof of liability insurance coverage

I assume you are from Italy.

Is your legal business in Italy or US?
If you have a local insurance company then you may find there a solution.
For US sellers you can us amazon insurance providers to get a insurance.

Or you would need to open a business in US to get a insurance then.

Unfortunately at the moment I only know it works easy for US, UK and China people and not for European :(

I also would like to know how and if Amazon is reviewing and check the insurance numbers etc.

My business in Italy I don't have a US company. I asked several insurances in the US they said they can only make for US companies with US addresses.

Re: Provide proof of liability insurance coverage

Yes that is correct. Thats why you only have a chance to get the insurance from an Italien insurance.

Or if you open the business in the US then you can get the US Insurance.

This is a big thing currently being discussed in the Amazon seller forums, Id check there for more info. Apparently its an old policy, but one they only started enforcing recently

That's a harsh-like policy to enforce but they could arrange it to kick in once sales are at that point, true

We are in Canada, but used our US return address as the "physical" address and got insurance for all our US accounts.

Ok I'm wondering if your insurance got accepted by Amazon. Because the policy reads that it needs to match with the "legal business address" what is on the tax files.

But if thats true you are saying that you got an insurance with your US return address and this was accepted by Amazon.com? Where did you get the insurance from?

Got accepted by AZ. Has to match the seller Name on the tax form for the US.

Used the link that AZ provided (the one company on the right). Underestimate your yearly sales to keep the price low.

Would love to hear if anyone is able to cancel the insurance without amazon knowing. Its another money grab and as useful as a screen door on a submarine.

Since AZ is on the policy, they would be notified as soon as it is cancelled.
Agreed that it is a bit of a waste, but $45 a month per account really isn't too bad (but would be better in my pocket for sure).

Do you need LLC in USA to make insurance? Or only USA address?

Re: Provide proof of liability insurance coverage

No, it's all based on the amazon info. So the insurance company will look into your amazon

You mean if your legal address is US you can make insurance without LLC ? I asked few companies and all asked for LLC to make insurance.
