Amazon success stories?

Sometimes I see an ad on youtube or news sites (articles) about these super successful Amazon sellers. How accurate are they? I mean you hear or read about some guy going from working 12 hour shifts at McDonalds to making $100,000 a month selling on Amazon and only working like 2 hours a week. Am I being lied to and/or naïve?

thanks for your responses everyone. I'm just trying to look into selling on Amazon possibly

Accuracy is low - there are rare occurrences of this but not that easy to get to...it's marketing ploys to try to get ppl to buy some kind of e-book or method to get there....which takes a lot of leg work

Usually the successful sellers are working and got no time to be in the limelight.

Yes, you can be successful on both eBay and Amazon, amazon being some of the toughest platforms to sell on, but it's a journey.

So you gotta give yourself a chance.

one more question is what about junglescout? Is that a good tool to find what's selling on Amazon? a youtuber mentioned signing up for junglescout using his link and it could save me money.

I can teach anyone to make 6 figure income on Amazon. It's not a rocket science really, but the learning process and building up an account takes awhile. The real problem is that if you have popular products with good profit margins, you don't really want to teach other people what and how to sell because then you have to compete with them for the sales. So my guess is the successful Amazon Sellers aren't the ones offering to teach you..

I heard of junglescout a long time ago.
Don't know how well it works now and I'm certain that youtube is one of its promoter or affiliate.

That's how they make their money.

Anything sells on amazon basically. This is that homework you'll have to do and it's not easy to do

The easy money is over,it was over long long time ago on both Ebay,AMZN.
Dropshipping or rather retail arbitrage of listing AMZN items on Ebay and make AMZN ship to your 'friend' was a big hit, like every thing else, the early birds made a small fortune but now it is banned on both sites.
The ones who are still selling on EBay and making a slimmer profit know what sells and where to find them, they will attend liguidations, estate auctions, garage sales,locker/storage auctions, many jewelry and local retail shops have folded and if you have the working capital, buy their remaining inventory .
Buy low and sell high is the secret of survival in ecommerce.
Several years ago, there is this article on two AMZN third party sellers which only exist on AMZN ,they go after WMT or any large brick and mortar stores closing ,you know WMT always have lower prices as they often wrestle more discount from their suppliers,so when they are closing their superstores, you can find things at 35-75% discount and the beauty is you are saving on shipping when you order from many wholesalers or distributors, one will show up with a $100,000 bank draft and 2 staff with an Uhaul, they buy dvds, toothpaste, teeth whitener kits, kitchen ware, cosmetics, small appliances and list them on AMZN.
Another was a party of 3,man with brother in law and mother in law with a station wagon, they hauled away $30k worth of goods and list them on AMZN.
Both expect 100% gross profit margin.
Start out small, buy what is out of season like Halloween masks and costumes,XMas and Valentine gifts, these days people are looking to save money,if you have a HOME DEPOT credit card,it sends you coupons monthly and you can sell them on Ebay, even grocery store coupons can be sold -SBUX,KR,Albertson,restaurants gift cards.
Costco members used to buy batteries in large quantity, break them up and sell them on Ebay.same goes with ink cartridge.
Some will go to HD,L,BBY and browse thru the returns, slightly damaged (outside box) items, even local retail stores are willing to give you a 20% discount if you are going to resell their items.

Theres some dude in a dropshipping Facebook group im in. He dropships from smaller retailers that comply with Amazon's drop ship policy - he uses OA genius and SKU grid. He has about 2-3k listings and his net margins are 15-20%. He did 300k revenue in December

15-20% gross margin on 200-300.000 sales, thats sound right, thats his salary ,it is not much but he should survive

They exist. People who make the majority of their income from amazon usually stay in the shadows. "Gurus" and people that flaunt their success usually do not catch my attention. I am more interested in the guy who stays quiet but makes money.

I am 24. E-commerce is my only source of income and the majority is amazon. I just bought a small house and moved out of my parents. I have been doing this for 3 years. I make more than enough to cover the mortgage. I now have peace, quiet and time to pursue whatever interests me :)

So he's making about 1/2 mil / year which is great.
