How to recover your Stealth account with 2 step authentication missing
 

For those trying to recover their account when they lost their 2 step authenticator app and no longer having their old phone number on a stealth account for which they have no ID to send:

It's possible. I kept trying to recover, called amazon support several times, requested for 2 step to be removed from another user account on the same account - no luck. They basically said no way we can help you in any way, the only thing we can do is send you a 2 step authenticator removal request link that goes to your original email from which the account was created. Once you click on the link you need to upload user ID that matches the name on the account.

Long story short, the only way I could figure out how to do it is calling the original phone number used to create the account. Left a voice mail to the person asking to speak with them.

They responded with a test saying: "What is this in regards"?

To which I wrote a long text explaining that I used to have their phone number and many years ago I setup my Amazon account with it and now I'm locked out of my account and the only way I could get back in was if I provide the 6 digit OTP codes that they send to that old phone number. So sorry for bothering you and I'm sure you are receiving a ton of text messages from Amazon with codes every time I try to login. I promise to immediately change my number in my account once I login if you give me the OTP digits so you will never be bothered again.

The person didn't respond so I sent another text with a picture of me holding my ID and said listen this isn't a scam, I'm so sorry to bother you with this but I have no other way to get my account back.

Finally they sent me the OTP code and I got back into the app and setup new 2 step with authenticator app and changed my phone number to my new number.

Moral of the story: It's worth a try calling the old number that was used to setup the stealth account originally. Hopefully this helps someone who is stuck in the same position.

Any ideas how to find what the original phone number is to which Amazon sends an OTP code? I have another stealth account and all I can see is that the number they are sending OTP codes ends in *244. I looked through all my paperwork and I can't find any numbers that match ending on 244. I do have secondary email user accounts setup on this amazon account so I can log into the account and see the details such as Business Entity, address, deposit method, credit card, etc but I can't see the original phone number used for the OTP codes. Any Ideas?

It sounds like you added a phone number to the "emergency/secondary phone number pop up"

Always avoid adding a number there (in any case if this isn't what happened to you) as it will make you receive a code to it if you are ever locked out

It almost supersedes the original OTP device when added

Go to settings - login settings , you can see the full OTP number there.

Unfortunately I can't login into this User (primary) so I can't access the account settings to see the OTP. I can only login with secondary emails I've created and invited to use the account. Each of them has it's own settings and all I can see is that particular user/email's OTP number.
