Safest way to list on amazon

What is the safest way to list on amazon?

I noticed there's a "Sell this product" option and "Apply to sell" option.

I'm guessing the first is the safer option but what if the listing has a private label brand but it's the exact same product - not restricted.

Is it still safe to list under that listing?

What else should I watch out for when listing items as a dropshipper?

Thanks

There's no difference, apply to sell means you may need to get approval to sell that product. And just because a product isn't gated doesn't mean it's less risky, they can ask you for documentation anytime down the line and when you don't have it you're screwed

Apply to sell you'll either get immediately rejected or you have to file a document.

Sell product obviously you can go and sell immediately but there's really no "safest" way to list on amazon.

It's not just amazon that's the problem but dirty competitors too.

on a brand new shop you want to sell generic products at first

products without a brand to generate some history/sales

then slowly start selling brand products to avoid the typical issues

Private label are the worse. They are usually brands/ASIN's created by smaller sellers who are very protective of their business.

The Chinese create endless brands and can be ruthless in dealing with piggybackers who are probably drop-shipping from the factories they work for.

On Amazon almost all are apply to sell on these new accounts many are simply they ask you 4 types of questions and automatically approve you then rest you need to provide invoices etc

Some may not agree with me, the best way to sell on Amazon is create your own brand and register and sell that. The Chinese do that and there are plenty on Amazon and that stops people jumping on our listings. You will still have to jump the hoops they put in your way and usually they are not insurmountable.
Personally I stopped selling on there as you are more of a target for competitors to get you for IP complaints and even manufacturers not liking you selling their products which are not gated if you are not an authorized reseller. To much work with too many problems, plus you can suffer the fact that Amazon could be a competitor to you on a similar product and reduce search traffic to you.

I created my first listing from scratch instead of hoping onto existing listings. I got gtin exemption and listed as generic.

Any potential issues with this set up?

I've got a legit dropshipping supplier with invoices...it's not like I'll just leave it and not try...especially when I see people doing 6 figures monthly dropshipping on amazon.

Any other issues?

On your end I'm certain you're pretty good and doing your best.

It's just external stuff that's out of your control that you need to watch out for on amazon. ALL of us go through it frequently
