Ebay > Amazon...
 

Been selling on Amazon for over 12 years and just recently started to ramp up on eBay about a year ago. So far, I much prefer eBay's platform over Amazon. eBay's Seller hub is much more robust than Amazon's sellercentral. Disbursement schedule is also much better for sellers. The only benefit I see from Amazon side is buy box. If you can achieve buy box, your sales and profit margin outperforms.

Just ranting... Anyone else agree that ebay's platform > Amazon's...? I just don't understand why Amazon can't get their stuff together for sellers... I honestly wake up in the morning expecting for the dreaded email subject line "Your Amazon Account Deactivated":tears::tears::tears:

AMZN does not care much for small sellers,it is more of a nuisance.

AMZN also needs ASIN ?
I recall sellers have to buy ASIN ?
is that so?

No ASIN,so I can list a no brand cotton dress and thats fine?

I had received some bounced checks.
Some buyers never receive what they bought.
But most buyers and sellers are honest,only a few bad apple,thats was the early days.

I just sold a book under my buyer account,and AMZN withheld the payment just in case?this is the first order I ever received from my buyer account.

Since I cannot get into my seller account,I relist all my books in my buyer account .
I cant believe how little other booksellers are asking for their books?
I dont think they ever bother to review their listings,how do you sell a coffee table hardcover book which weighs 3 lbs for $5 and ship $3.99??

i think everyone has gone through the anxiety of waiting for the dreaded email. However, like Rsot mentioned, if you been doing 12 years on the same account, then well done. IF not, still well done on the motivation!

YES! I agree. 90% of my income always came from eBay. Not a fan of Amazon, they are extremely strict with performance, tons of competitors toppling over your listing, returns, returns, returns, etc.. It takes longer to finally get paid, etc.. I can go on and on. If you dont have a buy box it's not worth the headache.

eBay is the best place for people like us to grow into the kind of huge "just throw money at your problems until they go away" seller Amazon wants. Amazon has built their own door to door delivery company while eBay managed to put their logo on packing tape and I think that's a good analogy of the two companies as a whole.

It's been a long time since I've used eBay. I prefer Amazon because of FBA.

amazon is only good for professional sellers thus the conditions with delayed payments , all possible kinds of harassment etc. , ebay can certainly do the same but that would scare off small sellers in large numbers

Under Generic you can. Or apply for your own Brand approval.

amazon have been regularly withholding payments for weeks , a recent example are the sellers in the UK who were deactivated because of supposed foreign location , most of them if not all complained about large sums of frozen balance while the accounts remained deactivated for weeks

i would risk mixing buyer account with selling account but that's just my preference.

hmm maybe other sellers are getting cheaper source - where do you source your books from

On Amazon, sometimes the sales center is so difficult because of the configuration it has, for me I think it is somewhat confusing.
The Ebay platform in this case tends to be more friendly to us.
But really what I have seen in recent years of being in the world of online sales is that every day there are more clients and scam buyers and platforms like eBay or Amazon benefit buyers a lot.
Of course this also happens due to scam sellers.
If you ask me I like eBay better, but if you can have both it's much better.

I don't think that in your case, having a 12year Amazon FBA account, you can have problems if you do it right.

I'm the same, Amzon FBA is a breeze. I work a handful of hours to earn what would be a full time 50 hour week on ebay and still have an income whilst I'm on holiday etc.

I currently use ebay to sell wares which I am nervous about offering on Amazon, old stock, bits and bobs etc. It accounts for about 15% of my income at the moment but I regularly turn it off if I can't be bothered.

It jsut depends where you are, what you're selling etc.

Some stuff sells better on eBay and some on amazon depending on the country of residence.
