| quantum | 07-03-2024 04:19 PM | 90% of brands are gated now... seriously...? Just about every brand out there is now gated. It's just crazy! Amazon might as well gate every brand, not sure what they're waiting for.. This is no platform for rookies haha |
| murdered_by_ebay | 07-03-2024 04:47 PM | Re: 90% of brands are gated now... seriously...? amazon have been gating aggressively , not just on brands but on many major suppliers in various categories
the same happens if a seller got restricted or suspended for brand/copyright violation , most of their recently sold inventory is analyzed and all brands are gated if they were not gated before |

All the sales venues have the same problem, too many sellers and not enough buyers, | We are going very quickly towards the end of good sales and great deals on Ebay and Amazon??
Many of the groups and forums, even here, have greatly reduced the frequency of writing and selling.
There are large groups on Skype and Telegram where some time ago there was a lot of business, today weeks can go by in silence...
I think this is having an impact on the morale of all the boys. |
| agent006140 | 07-06-2024 07:13 AM | Re: 90% of brands are gated now... seriously...? It is economics 101,the easy money is over,it is over long time ago.
We used to set our alarm to get up in the middle of the night to bid!
Now I see wholesalers and distributors selling on Ebay, new items for half the price you pay for in a retail store ! |
Re: 90% of brands are gated now... seriously...? Totally agree. AZ selling is no longer fun. It's a tough grind for less money. It almost seems that AZ wants only the brand manufacturer selling the brand, or themselves.
The only advantage I have is we only have 1 more year to go before pulling the plug and riding off into the sunset :yar:

| Stealthapprentice | 07-10-2024 07:06 PM | Re: 90% of brands are gated now... seriously...? AZ has always really only wanted trademark/ patent owners selling. They only were letting people slide by selling products that the sellers did not own until they got hit with them legal issues. People thought amazon was another ebay. Quote:

I like the fact they are tightening up about IP. I own a fully trademark product and found a seller on amz years ago reselling without my permission. This was before amazon had things set in place to protect owners. There are many sellers online who have no idea of what intellectual property is. |
| Stealthapprentice | 07-11-2024 06:29 PM | Re: 90% of brands are gated now... seriously...? I think that in the future these restrictions will teach the next wave of sellers to try harder and learn more about the laws before listing products. Amz is going to become just a bill board for IP owners to build their brands. |
| quantum | 07-12-2024 10:36 AM | Re: 90% of brands are gated now... seriously...? Unfortunately, it's a double-edged sword. More tightening means less free market and less competition in the real world. If Chinese sellers can replicate and bypass IP protected items and sell for half the price, the avg consumer is happy at the end of the day. I've seen too many "protected" 3D printed product owners fail thinking that they have some sort of game changing product when it took a Chinese seller to reverse engineer and replicate their product in a month. |

I do agree with what you said though just to be clear. |

We pay 76 dollars while overseas it sells for 28 dollars.
The drug company excuse is that someone has to pay for the research.so it is the US residents and citizens |

| Stealthapprentice | 07-18-2024 09:48 AM | Re: 90% of brands are gated now... seriously...? If you want to sell on Amazon, you have to start a private label or create your own patent products and market them. The old days of selling wholesale are close to over unless you start your own platforms and build up your brand. Revert Amazon customers to shop from your own site at a reduced cost. You'll have to get creative. Use third-party websites to drive yourself traffic. Amazon was designed to help new brands get off the ground. They allowed wholesalers for a while, but y'all got carried away by violating every IP law yall could get away with. FTC is now riding them, therefore they have to act as if they are putting the hammer down now. If people would have chilled out years ago and sold in moderation, and followed basic rules, we might not have these issues today. But greed is the root of all issues. Creating 500 stelth accounts and rotating fufu products on them so you reduce suspension odds is greed, and why amazon kept tightening up over the years. |

it'll always be the bad actors that caused the problems and the rest of us pay for it.
