Invalid charge method

My account has been dormant for a year and was set to inactive by Amazon.

Reactivation requires that the charge card is resubmitted. It's now saying invalid charge method despite that no details have changed and the card is in date.

I resubmitted the card details for the UK shop and the £1.00 fee has been applied to my bank as pending transactions (I tried 3 times and I have separate deductions from Amazon prime and Amazon.com)

The UK shop appears to gets verified ( though still in limited access section) but the European stores don't. They fail immediately.

I will try contacting my bank...but I haven't turned off international payments so not sure where problem lies.
Amazon emailed to say the account has been deactivated pending utility bill submission. I can't access this until a card is on file and verified though.

Just received this reply from NatWest bank......

"I see that you're experiencing difficulties authorizing
purchases with your debit card linked to your business account. Rest assured, I'm here to assist you with this
issue. Upon reviewing the details, I’ve noticed that multiple transactions have been declined on your card. I regret
to inform you that these transactions were declined due to bank policy. These policies are designed to protect both
our customers and the bank, while also ensuring we meet our regulatory requirements. Unfortunately, I am unable
to provide specific details regarding the exact policy or inform you if or when this policy might change. If possible,
I recommend contacting the recipient directly to arrange an alternative payment method."

First time I've seen this. May have get another credit card then?

100% sure it's because the details don't match

Re: Invalid charge method

It said debit card, not credit card.
Your European accounts, are they different than your UK account?

It's a real pain. You can't just sign up to a UK store. You have to verify your charge card for about 10 other European stores too. Even if you never sell on them.

Yes, it's a debit card that came with the business account. These always worked in the past. It's not a stealth account. Details are legit.

in the UK the only details that are checked is house number and postcode so this means that the bank declined the transaction due to these values being incorrect

merchants are able define which values must match , it is likely that amazon changed their merchant settings so that values which did not match in the past now lead to declined payment

Re: Invalid charge method

Can your residential address be different from the card registered address for verification?

murdered_by_ebay 12-24-2024 09:23 AM

Re: Invalid charge method

you can usually define a separate billing address

Re: Invalid charge method

You can, just don't use an address which has been suspended before.

Quite logical - no reuse of old info

This would mean either moving house or registering a stealth address with your bank (that matches Amazon registered address).

Anytime you change your registered address with your bank (like when you need a new card sent out) it would fail Amazon verification due to address mismatch.

Do most stealthers use virtual credit cards on here? Do they work long term?

For old account ( even 6 months ago), all my debit card mismatched name & address work perfectly, no issue at all.
Recently mismatched name & address debit card won't work ( high street bank), amazon still could charge £1 from my card ( I can see from online banking transaction), but still cannot pass verification.

You can leave other EU countries banking info blank, you don't have to fill them up if you are not going to sell there.

VCC is the only way forward. Some work a long time, others don't. What other option do you have? There is none.
