Create Amazon Account At Previously Suspended Address
 

Hey,

I was suspended by Amazon about 12 years ago. I still live at he same address. Would my wife be able to create an Amazon Selling Account, or would the fact we have the same surname and same address be enough for amazon to suspend? Anyone ever done this?

Haven't done this but 12 years is long - hmm can you wife use her maiden last name just to be safer?

No, because it won't get through verification and with HMRC reporting now it will cause issues.

Your wife should use a different address,like relative nearby,work address or rent a mail box

instead of thinking of HMRC think about how to get an account set up

same address may or may not become a problem , this depends on the reason of suspension but also if they will look into this at all

so eventually no one knows

That's why I asked has anyone ever done it. Why does it depend on the reason of suspension? What experience have you had of this?

I personally wouldn't use the same address. If you are USA-based, there are locations where you can rent a P.O. box or a mailbox, like a UPS store, or use your registered agent's location.

Considering how hard amazon accounts are to make, if I were you, I'd just rent a mailbox and use that as address.

Yes you have, your wifes clean details.

They will link her to a blacklisted address, find a way to legitimately break that link. It's not going to be easy, a PO Box won't work so you're going to have to think creatively. Not easy with Amazon for sure.

While the UPS pickup is doable, I'm trying to understand what you mean...the suspended address would still be registered on the website?

I need it to be completely legit due to the HMRC reporting which is in place now. Another address won't work.

OldTom is right, protect your wife's information as it's clean. Im not too familiar with HMRC rules but could you use another family member's address?

The OP is too worried about HMRC , he should better worry about being able to sell , HMRC do not care about the address if it is the only problem

use another address but before doing so make sure it gets into your credit report . in the UK it is easy to do as no one can tell who has actual residence where

so you add the address to banks and wait , before applying on amazon request a copy of your credit history

The address is just one of the many hurdles. When I opened a stealth account like 10 years ago I used a UPS box. It worked great and then years later I changed the address and never got any trouble from amazon about it. I think the UP box is the way to go for the initial set up.

As far as your wife's details go, if has never been a seller before it should be fine. I would call your internet provider and change your IP address, get all new devices to log into amazon. Those are just the basics.

If the same house name and postcode are used (from a suspended account) but with a different flat number, name, and surname, is the UPS pickup still at risk? UK account

Different everything? I've used just different unit numbers and had no problem. I assume you would be in the same boat.

I would really just eliminate all risks when it comes to Amazon.

I have no idea how it works in the UK or what HMRC is but what I have always done in the US(and ive never had an issue) is if for example my suspended account address

123 Main St

I will just sign up as something like 123B Maine St Front

Or something to that effect add a letter or change a spelling slightly and the letter they send you to confirm the address will still get delivered

Amazon is strict about linking, and the address and surname would most definitely trigger it. Some have had relatives successfully open accounts, but it's always a gamble because Amazon's system identifies common data points. If your wife attempts it, she needs to use her own legal information, banking, and ID, but be ready for potential verification problems.
